چکیده

The adjustment of multidimensional abstract parameter spaces, used in human-in-the-loop systems such as simulations and visualizations, plays an important role for multitouch interaction. We investigate new natural forms of interaction to manipulate such parameter spaces. We develop separable multi-touch interaction techniques for abstract parameter space manipulation. We investigate using the index and thumb to perform the often-repeated sub-task of switching between parameters. A user study compares these multi-touch techniques with mouse-based interaction, for the task of color selection, measuring performance and efficiency. Our findings indicate that multi-touch interaction techniques are faster than mouse based interaction. ACM Classification: H5.2 [Information interfaces and presentation]: User Interfaces. Collaborative data analysis with smart tangible devices

We present a tangible approach for exploring and comparing multi-dimensional data points collaboratively by combining Sifteo Cubes with glyph visualizations. Various interaction techniques like touching, shaking, moving or rotating the displays support the user in the analysis. Context dependent glyph-like visualization techniques make best use of the available screen space and cube arrangement...

Collaborative Learning Skills in Multi-touch Tables for UML Software Design

The use of Multi-touch interfaces for collaborative learning has received significant attention. Their ability to synchronously accommodate multiple users is an advantage in co-located collaborative design tasks. This paper explores the Multi-touch interface’s potential in collaborative Unified Modeling Language diagramming by comparing it to a PC-based tool, looking at the Collaborative Learni...

Developing Interaction Techniques for Small Multiples within a Multi-Touch Interface

In this project we design new interaction techniques for small multiples in the setting of a multi-touch interface. We aim to introduce new interactions in these areas related to information visualization, and allow for new forms of analysis. We implement these designs, suggest other design possibilities, and conduct informal user studies. Author

Bimanual Interaction with Interscopic Multi-Touch Surfaces

Multi-touch interaction has received considerable attention in the last few years, in particular for natural two-dimensional (2D) interaction. However, many application areas deal with three-dimensional (3D) data and require intuitive 3D interaction techniques therefore. Indeed, virtual reality (VR) systems provide sophisticated 3D user interface, but then lack efficient 2D interaction, and are...

A Notation and a Layered Architecture to Model Dynamic Instantiation of Input Devices and Interaction Techniques: Application to Multi-Touch Interactions

Representing the behavior of multi-touch interactive systems in a complete, concise and non-ambiguous way is still a challenge for formal description techniques. Indeed, multi-touch interactive systems embed specific constraints that are either cumbersome or impossible to capture with classical formal description techniques. This is due to both the idiosyncratic nature of multi-touch technology...
